Federal Prison: Federal Bureau of Prisons – Are changes coming for Federal Prison Inmates with serious medical problems?

by | Sep 30, 2013 | Federal Prison, Federal Prison Inmates with serious medical problems |

In a speech on August 12, 2013, Attorney General Eric Holder announced major changes in Federal Bureau of Prison Policy for federal prison inmates with serious medical problems.  Applications will go through a review process within the Federal Bureau of Prisons and ultimately to the sentencing federal judge for their review.

Serious Medical Problems of Federal Prison Inmates is a large problem for the Federal Bureau of Prisons and an even bigger problem for the seriously ill federal prison inmate.  Medical care in Federal Prison is not for the seriously or critically ill inmate.  Federal Prison Inmates wait weeks and sometimes months for simple tests, are not given doctor prescribed medicines following treatment or surgery, and infections are ignored.

Contact Federal Prison Consultants for our help with seriously ill federal prison inmates in the Federal Prison System.

But considering the applications of nonviolent federal offenders – through a careful review process that ultimately allows federal sentencing judges to consider whether release is warranted – is the fair thing to do.  And it is the smart thing to do as well, because it will enable us to use our limited resources to house those who pose the greatest threat.
